Intelligent LC glass with variable sightscreening
 
A transparent view to the outside, an opaque sightscreen or an eye-catching display – ipaview CF makes the glazing multifunctional. ipaview CF is an LC (liquid-crystal) glass with variable transparency. It can be used, for example, in dividing walls or in insulating glass combinations. When it is switched off it has good back projection characteristics. Combinations with a wide variety of glass types are possible.

The ipaview CF laminated glass unit consists of at least two heat-treated glass panes joined together, made of single-pane safety glass or thermally toughened glass. Between the two panes there is a switchable film, which is connected to an electricity source via one of its edges. The switchable film is joined to the glass surfaces using a thermoplastic fixing agent to form a glass laminate. The laminated glass has safety properties. 

The ipaview unit is connected via an electronic ballast to the electricity supply. With its integrated mains connection, ipaview CF allows sightscreening at the flick of a switch. If a voltage is present, the liquid crystals arranged themselves in such a way that the glass becomes almost completely transparent to the eye. If the power supply is turned off, the crystal structure becomes milky white – the glass is then opaque from either side and can function as a display and image carrier via a back projection.

The ipaview CF glass types are suitable for use in interiors. If used with insulating glass, the ipaview CF unit must be on the interior side. Use in damp rooms, in the open air or in vehicles is not yet permitted.
