ipasafe ESG


Through the use of heat treatment to create tension in the glass, the ipasafe thermally-toughened single-pane safety glass achieves a higher mechanical resilience and thus increased safety. The glass features a characteristic tension distribution: while the outside of the pane is under high compression, the central core is put under a compensating tension during the cooling process.

In order to guarantee the safety features of single-pane safety glass, the two tensions have to be balanced. If this tension balance is destroyed, a fine mesh of small and mostly blunt glass crumbs develops.  This considerably reduces the risk of injury.

Single-pane safety glass features an increased bending resistance (of 120 N/m², compared to 45 N/m² for float glass), increased impact resistance according to DIN and a higher thermal shock resistance. With single-pane safety glass, the maximum temperature difference above the pane is 200 K, standard float glass, however, is much more sensitive to temperature (40 K).

Due to these excellent properties and the much lower risk of injury, ipasafe single-pane safety glass construction elements are used both for interior design and for external areas. They can be individually adapted to the architectural situation and allow generous designs, which can both be separating and linking.

[Translate to Englisch:] ESG zeichnet sich durch erhöhte Biegefestigkeit (120 N/m² anstelle von 45 N/m² bei Floatglas), erhöhte Stoß- und Schlagfestigkeit nach DIN sowie durch erhöhte Temperaturwechselbeständigkeit aus. Die Temperaturdifferenz über die Scheibenfläche beträgt bei ESG 200 K, normales Floatglas ist dagegen wesentlich temperaturempfindlicher (40 K).


Auf Grund dieser hervorragenden Eigenschaften und dem erheblich geminderten Verletzungsrisiko werden ipasafe ESG-Bauelemente sowohl für den Innenausbau als auch im raumumhüllenden Bereich eingesetzt. Sie lassen sich individuell an die architektonischen Gegebenheiten anpassen und erlauben großzügige Konstruktionen, die trennen und gleichzeitig verbinden können.
